Event Recap: LMDES Social

Las Morenas de España recently just turned one and we wanted to celebrate. There's something beautiful about bringing an online community together in real life to congregate, meet new friends and catch up with old. The evening brought in women who have been living all over the country for over 10 years, to those who just moved earlier in the week to ladies who were just in town visiting for the weekend but knew that they needed to be in the space. The room was filled with great vibes, meaningful conversation and women slaying in all white. Needless to say, everyone left feeling inspired and a bit more at home.

LMDES Picnic Recap

We’re really happy to have gotten together with over 15 ladies on a Saturday afternoon for our first official LMDES event. It was an amazing opportunity to get to know some of the fabulous and supportive women in our community and snacking on delicious food. With women from New York, Chicago, London, Cali, Ireland, Jamaica and more… it was a clear representation that there is a diverse group of women of color living here in Spain and with plans to stay.

Anxiously Awaiting My Move To Spain

Ever since the fifth grade, I have longed to visit Spain.  Maybe it was my long time crush on Enrique Iglesias or the project that I did on Spanish culture in the sixth grade.  Whatever it was, Spain was always on my list of places to experience. When I finally got my chance to travel out of the country during my junior year of college, I thought that spending six weeks in Spain would be a no-brainer but I choose Brazil because of the opportunity to work with and learn about Afro-Brazilian culture.  It proved to be a grand experience that lit my travel fire.
