Whether you are a world traveler, a stay at home mom, an entrepreneur or anything in between, life happens to us all. Unpleasant situations pop up that really make us wonder “Why is this happening to me?” Although you may not know why these obstacles are coming your way you can find some peace in knowing how to stay sane during such times. So here are 3 ways to keep the positivity flowing when life gets “REAL.”
Now or-Later Situations
A great way to keep the positivity flowing is deciding what to deal with and when to deal with it. Honestly I can’t stress this point enough. Sometimes we take on situations that stress us out so greatly that we would have been better off leaving it alone all together, or waiting until we have a bit more patience, strength and clarity to take it on. Here’s some food for thought; if we do happen to take something on prematurely we may be disrupting the situation from naturally working itself out. Some things really do work out better on their own! So, don’t be that person who picks up the battle ax far too quickly, only to regret the damage done later on. Instead take a moment to evaluate what your losses and victories would be when deciding whether or not to react to your situation.
Don’t let it get the best of you
Does it feel like the situation is sucking the life out of you? Do you keep talking about it in hopes of coming to a conclusion but instead feel like you’re running in circles? If so It’s probably time to scale back a bit because this is an indication that you are giving the situation far too much power over you and your life. I know at times we come across some pretty gnarly situations and it really feels like the world is coming to an end. However, thinking about it all day, and being upset about it all month is NOT helpful or beneficial for us. When we give a situation too much power we make it larger than life, and it will appear that things will NEVER be ok. This simply isn’t true! Find a reason to smile and keep moving forward. Have you ever wondered why it seems like some people are going through complete chaos yet still find a way to smile? I always wondered the same thing. Now I know that they have simply mastered a way to prevent life from getting the best of them! I also think it’s important to note that when you smile this opens the door for positivity to come through. So break out your pearly whites and try your best not to let this situation get the best of you! Remember all of the things you have overcome thus far, and let that be your light at the end of the tunnel.
Show someone else some love
Yup, I said it! Even when it feels like the sky is falling... go show someone else some love. Why? When you show love to someone else even when you feel miserable you are planting a seed of positivity that is much bigger than you and your problem. By doing this you are looking your problem square in the eyes and saying “BAM! Take that!” Your problem may still be there, but I bet it won’t seem as large and you won’t feel as hopeless. When we are able to see that we have the power to help others it gives us more peace, and positivity to deal with our own situations.
We all know that life can get pretty “REAL” but as long as we are alive we have the opportunity to overcome obstacles and help others do the same! Plus, keeping the positivity flowing even in really dark times, allows you to take back control of your life.
We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond!
