Summer is in full swing. The sun is shining, everyone’s out and about and energy is high. With the year being halfway over, now is the perfect time to slow down, take a step back and reevaluate where you are in life. Odds are, the resolutions made in January have been forgotten and a lot has happened in the past 6 months. Not to worry though, it’s never too late. Here are five ways to revamp your life, make the most of the longer days and get one step closer to becoming your best self!
Purge and Only Keep What You Love
After recently reading, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, my life was actually changed. This Japanese decluttering method might seem a bit extraneous at first, but it is a great way to figure out what it is that you actually need in life. Marie Kondo encourages you deal with everything that you own and ask yourself, Does this bring me joy? What a way to think about life! Why would you keep something around if it doesn’t bring you joy? Use the extra time you have this summer to get rid of the things that don’t bring you joy, whether that be clothes you never wear or toxic relationships that you’ve been holding on to for way too long.
Redecorate Your Space
In a similar vein to getting rid of things that don’t bring you joy, sometimes, all we need to brighten our day and get refocused is a change of space. Reorganize your home or your favorite rooms to fit how you’re feeling. A good switch every now and then does wonderful. Find out how to make your space work for you and make sure that your home is a place where you feel at peace.
Be Conscious Of Your Body
Summertime means more sun and more skin. Here at LMDES, we clap three times for body positivity and loving what you have! We also fully encourage for all of us to be conscious of our bodies, we’re only given one in this lifetime. Hot weather is the perfect excuse to try out new healthy recipes and fun ways to be active. Whether it’s heading to the pool to escape the heat, that Zumba class you’ve been wanting to try or going on a hike, find a few activities that are fun to do alone or with friends and be active. Once you get into a routine, it will become addictive (thanks endorphins!)
Revisit Goals and Go After What Really Matters
Go back to that list you made in January and see how things have changed since then. Do you still have the same goals? Have you made the progress that you wanted? Take an early morning and see if you’re still aligned with what you wanted to accomplish this year. Also, take time to celebrate how far you’ve come!
Find Time Each Day To Do Something That Brings You Joy
During summer the days are longer and odds are, you have less on your schedule. Put time aside each day to do something that truly brings you joy, no matter what it is. Also, use the time to try things you’ve always wanted… because there is no better time than now!
