LMDES Fall Playlist: You'll Have These Artists on Repeat

For many of us, autumn is a season of new beginnings and preparation for the long winter ahead. This season, vibe to our carefully curated playlist that’ll take you from warm, late-summer heat to the chills of early-winter. Let artists from Mick Jenkins to JusMoni be your soundtrack this fall.

Mick Jenkins

This Alabama-born, Chicago-bred MC first surfaced on the hip-hop scene with his mixtape “The Mickstape,” and 3 additional mixtapes and an EP later is set to release his debut album “The Healing Component” this fall.

Not much is known about this South East London collective except that they’re known to headline a party or two in London’s Brixton area.

Jordan Rakei

Australia-born, but London-based artist Jordan Rakei simply describes himself as “An artist that is trying to change the blueprint.” His debut album “Cloak” released in June, be on the lookout as he is currently doing a European album tour.

Nonku Phiri

South Africa’s Nonku Phiri is an electro-rap vocalist who employs hazy and trance-like beats that entices listeners to explore more of her music. Initially coming onto the music scene in 2012 after working at an advertising agency, Phiri has carved out a lane of her own.

Seattle-bred artist/producer Sango is known for his Brazilian influenced beats and samples, so much that many (wrongly) assumed that he was Braziilan. With EP’s paying homage to Rio de Janeiro’s largest favela, Rochina, it’s no wonder! Signed to LA-based label “Soulection,” you can listen to his entire catalogue of infectious funk-influenced beats.

Maplewood, NJ’s darling SZA is signed to label “TopDawgENT” of Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q fame. She was recently featured on the opening track of Rihanna’s “Anti” album and has a forthcoming album titled “A.”

JusMoni, the beautiful Seattle-based songstress has been steadily rising through the underground scene with music described as “future/electronic/soul.” Also referred to as “Mother Sister” and “Saffroniaa,” she recently released an EP called “JusMoni as Saffronniaa.”

Etta Bond

British singer/songwriter, Etta Bond has been active on the scene dating back to 2011. Citing Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, D’angelo, and J Dilla as influences, it’s no wonder that her smooth, infectious voice captivates fans from around the globe. She’s been teasing fans with new music that she promises to soon come -- hopefully within this year!

London singer NAO, released her first EP in 2014 and has since released another EP as well as a full length album, “For All We Know,” which dropped this past July.

Dutch producer/DJ, Full Crate began his career in 2004 focusing solely on hip-hopand dancehall beats, but has recently began using soul and electronic influences in his music. Each month he curates playlists on 22Tracks.

The One After Next

This elusive artist has only one song, but loads of swag. Hopefully there will be more music to come!
