One week will not be enough. I had the honor of recently being introduced to Javea, Spain a city residing in Costa Blanca. Before my trip, I had never heard of the town even though I’ve traveled extensively through Spain but after 7 short days, it has become of my new favorite locations. It is one of those places, that makes you feel as if you’ve been transported to paradise. With an overwhelming sense of community, you’ll feel welcomed no matter where you go and you’ll be longing for your next trip before you even leave.
Insiders tip: Visit in early autumn, ideally September. The weather is still beautiful but it isn’t overwhelmingly filled with tourists like it would be in the summer months. Here are various things you need to experience while visiting.

Where To Stay: Sun + Co
Sun and Co was one of the biggest highlights during my stay in Javea. It is a modern co-living and co-working space in the heart of the old town. The most beautiful part of this space goes beyond the design of the redesigned 19th-century house but comes from the community that you find while there. It’s the perfect stay for freelancers, entrepreneurs and anyone who is looking for a place to feel inspired and productive at the same time.
With various activities throughout the week, you’ll be able to explore some of the best parts of Javea. On top of that, your hosts Edu and Jon will help you with everything you need and will give you tips and tricks on how to make the most of your time while in town.
Where To Chill: La Siesta
Whether you’re looking for a beachside escape, a place to work or just simply somewhere to chill, eat and drink by the sea… La Siesta is a must. The moment you walk into this spacious outdoor venue, you'll fall in love. With relaxed vibes and music, it will be easy to spend an entire day here on the sofas with a view of the ocean or catching up with friends. With a diverse menu and unforgettable views, you can head here for date night, a girls day out or just to spend some time alone reflecting on how beautiful life is.
Where To eat: Volta I Volta
You must go to Volta I Volta for lunch. The recently opened establishment is not only beautifully designed but the food is fresh and reasonably priced. For 12€ you get a four-course meal, prepared with love and phenomenal presentation. It’s also vegan and gluten-free friendly, if you call ahead. The cute atmosphere and friendly staff will have you wanting to come back again and again.
Where To Eat: Cala Bandida
Cala Bandida is the perfect location if you want to dine on something healthy and sit for hours mesmerized by the water. Located right on the port, it's the perfect place to head for brunch with friends or reflect about just how beautiful life is. With their extensive menu there is something for everyone, from detox juices to elaborate cocktails. Any time of day you'll be welcomed with good vibes.
Where To Beach: Playa Ciutadella
If you’re looking to escape crowded beaches and longing to have some time for rest and relaxation, skip the other beaches and go to this cala. A short drive from the center of town is open sea and sun. If you’re into active sports, go kayaking, if possible. While here I had the opportunity to kayak for three hours and go swimming through untouched caves in the Mediterranean and there are no words for how amazing of an experience it was.
Despite its size, Javea is somewhere that you will want to stay for weeks. As we’re big fans of slow travel, we recommend you do just that. But if you can only get away for short amount of time, head there and make the most of it.
Have you ever been to Javea? What do you love about the city?
