If you're in Madrid and looking for a cute, and quirky date idea, look no further! Madrid is full of possibilities when it comes to restaurants and bars, and some times it can be a bit overwhelming sorting through them all. That's where we come in! We understand the strugg, and there's no reason that just because you're not rolling in euros on euros that you can't treat yourself, your beaux/bae or even your best friend to a lovely date in this remarkable metropolis!
Option 1: Film, History & Language Lovers
Go and see a movie at Cine Doré. This emblematic building recognizable by all is in the Antón Martín area between Huertas and Lavapiés. It was built in the early 1900's and the intricate facade is from 1925. It's run by the Filmoteca Española and there are films in original version for the low, low price of 2,50! You can check out which films are playing and when, then head to the classic box office to make your purchase. Although they show some new movies (as in 1-2 years old) most are classics, international or indie!
Total Cost: 5,00
* Another great place to watch less mainstream films in an intimate setting is Dr. Steam in Lavapiés. Also, very much under 50,00!
Option 2: Trendy Foodies & Instagrammers
There's no shame in being an Instagrammer, friends! Say it loud and proud! You appreciate a delicious meal... even more so if presented in a fabulous flat-lay! For the trendy foodies, we recommend Saporem. You have have heard that name before on LMDES. That's because we hosted our birthday party there! Why do we love Saporem? It looks like a fairytale! There are hanging fairy lights, winding vines and plants throughout and there's also some jam playing in the background. Because we are so invested in our work, team LMDES went on a date! You read right! We headed to Saporem in Huertas one evening, just to catch up, and had a sister-friend date! Even though it was a Wednesday evening, the interior terrace was full of people. There was live music, and a very sociable and attentive wait staff! As for food, we tried the croquetas with prawns, the eggplant and honey chips and baked goat cheese. Yes, yes, and yes please, some more! The stand-out item at Saporem, for us, is their pizza! Close your eyes, and point, and you'll be just fine. Oh, and research shows that their drinks are strong and tasty. But, mostly strong. Ojo!
Total Cost: 45,00
Option 3: Double Date Idea- Dynamic and Exhilarating
How about an escape game? They are all the rage right now, and there are several different options! Although most require a minimum of 5 people, Escape Room in Madrid has a 2 person option available! So does Exit Game! What is it exactly? If you're claustrophobic, it may not be your jam, so keep scrolling. On the other hand, if you like teamwork, puzzles, riddles and mystery then this is a perfect idea for you! It's a timed, real-life simulation puzzle game. You have 60 minutes to solve a mystery with your partner or team and there are different scenarios such as WWIII, an ancient Egyptian mystery and even a zombie takeover! This is a great option for double date because it's interactive and fun!
For 4 people: 25,00 per person (50,00 per couple)
For 2 people: 27,50 per person (55,00 per couple)
Happy Date Night, from LMDES!
